Statistics
After you type or paste text, the statistics will automatically update.
The ‘Chars’ count is all the characters including spaces.
The ‘Letters’ count is all the characters excluding spaces, i.e. a-z, A-Z, 0-9, _ (underscore), and - (hyphen).
The ‘Words’ count is all the words in the text including repeats.
The ‘Distinct Words’ count is all the words that are different from each other.
‘Stop words’ refer to words like: ‘of’, ‘the’, and ‘is’.
The ‘Sentences’ count is the number of sentences in the text.
The ‘Word per sentence’ count is the average of words per sentence. This is only shown if their is more than 1 sentence.
The ‘Paragraphs’ count is the number of paragraphs in the text.
The ‘Word per paragraph’ count is the average of words per paragraph. This is only shown if their is more than 1 paragraph.
Distinct words
This is the list of all the distinct words (words that are different from each other).
You can sort Ascending / Descending by ‘Alphabetically’, by ‘Count’ (the number of occurrences of a word), or by ‘Word Length’.
The number on the left of each word will either be the ‘Word Length or ‘Occurrences’ depending on what way the list is sorted.
The ‘Show Stop Words’ switch will include the ‘Stop Words’ in the list if set to on.
Word Cloud
Adjust the slider to increase / decrease the number of words to include in the word cloud.
After you are satisfied with the resulting word cloud, you can download a copy by clicking one of the Save as ... buttons at the bottom. This will download an image file or SVG file of the word cloud.
